Recycled Water Needed Now

The Herald’s Anne Davies offers some useful perspective on the lamentable state of water policy in NSW:

Two years ago, the then utilities minister, Frank Sartor, released some research on attitudes to water. The Government had been getting kicked by the environmentalists about its lack of commitment to recycling and Sartor wanted to put a lid on it.

The survey of 600 people found that 68 per cent were uncomfortable with drinking recycled water.

But more revealing was the question. Respondents were asked whether they were “very comfortable, mildly comfortable, mildly uncomfortable or very uncomfortable with drinking recycled sewage, including toilet water, that is treated to drinking-water quality”. (more…)
